Jeans seem like a fashion never fades out.

 

We see, the style of our clothing is always changing. Bell-bottoms came into fashion quickly and went away quickly, and then they came back and after a while they left again. Hot pants come and go.  But what happened with jeans? Jeans seem to have survived. They made impossible possible. It remains a major trend from the 18th century to the present day. In our days now, it is easy for you to find someone who is wearing jeans. The fashion of jeans start from America and it has been spread all over the world and the trend of this fashion never seems to stop. Sometimes, popularity usually come to the end after a certain period of time, but for jeans, it is apparently not!!!

 

What should we pay attention is that, jeans took a new role in society and pop culture in America in 1930’s. During that time, the Hollywood was emerging and the western was so popular then. It had been an icon of American pop culture. Since then, jeans were unstoppable!!

The first jeans

In 1873, the first jeans were invented by Levi Strauss, who is regarded as the father of jeans. At that time, the Americans were attracted by gold washing. Levi is truly gifted. Unlike the majority, he did not hurry to wash gold like the others, while he made money from the gold miners. So the first style of jeans is tight around the hip, straight trouser legs and low-cut ,and these features precisely meet the need of gold miners. They are made of canvas, which is not easy to damage compared to pants made of cotton. 

Popular Styles in Recent Years

1950  trouser legs became thinner

In the 1950s, the era of rebellion, big stars in Hollywood such as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, were all willing to wear jeans. And that made jeans a kind of popularity that a majority of teens loved to chase.

  

Bell-bottoms

In the 1960s, the period of relaxation and fashion, hippie became popular in America. These cynical guys added more rebellious spirit into jeans and made it reflect their own unique characteristics.  Loose clothes were regarded as freedom and random. As for jeans, bell-bottoms came into fashion.

Denim overalls

In the 1970s, the Americans became more open than ever before. Jeans were universally accepted. Not only teenagers, even President Carter wore jeans very often. There was no prejudice against rank anymore.

Bleached jeans

There came a hot wind of yesterday-style. In order to make it seem retro, people bleached the jeans on purpose. Actually, jeans become white naturally because of long time friction. 

Jeans with holes

In the 1980s, economic prosperity and active thoughts had well developed. The Americans could no longer be satisfied with the beauty or casualness, they tried to make something unique. The new symbols of fashion were torn-offs, gaps, broken holes and rough selvedges. This new style can be considered as an extension of the bleached jeans which is more damaged because of friction. Of course, the holes are also artificial.  

Skinny jeans

After realizing that too much heat is contained in their food, which makes a high level of people over-weight in the nation, the American pay more attention to keep a balanced diet. So nowadays you can see more and more American girls get their charming statures back. They cannot ignore the good time to show their hot figures so that skinny jeans become popular again.

Apart from the west cowboy movies, jeans are also playinging important roles in pop movies. Following are some popular examples. 

ONE

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a 2005 American film, based on the novel The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares released by Warner Bros.

Four teenage girls — Lena, Tibby, Bridget, and Carmen — are best friends from Bethesda, Maryland, who are about to separate for the summer for the first time in their lives. Lena is spending the summer in Greece with her grandparents; Tibby is staying at home; Bridget is going to soccer camp in Mexico; and Carmen is visiting her father in South Carolina.








On one of their final days shopping together, the girls find a seemingly ordinary pair of jeans that fit them all perfectly and flatter their figures, despite their very different measurements. The girls dub them the Traveling Pants and decide to share them equally over the course of the summer. They part the next day, and the film focuses on each girl's journey seperately.

These four girls spend the summer seperrately, taking turns wearing the pants. The most surprising thing is that each girl who wore the pants will met lucking things.

When summer was over, they got together again and shared their experience, they found that they were associated more tightly, maybe because of the magic jeans.

In this movie, this pair of magic jeans not only brought  love and friendship to the four girls, but also made a hit in America and all over the world. As essencial part of people's daily wear, jeans also get involved in their daily life.

TWO

Jeans is a 1998 Indian Tamil romantic drama film written and directed by Shankar.The film features a successful soundtrack from A. R. Rahman, whilst Ashok Kumar and the pair of B. Lenin and V. T. Vijayan took care of the cinematography and editing respectively.

The film revolves around a Non-resident Indian man, Nachiappan, who has twin sons, Vishwanathan and Ramamoorthy. As a result of Nachiappan's separation from his twin brother, he wants his sons to be married to twins. However, Visu falls in love with a girl, Madhumitha, who visits the United States to help her grandmother remove a brain tumour. Visu and Ramu are medical students who are attached to the hospital where Madhu's grandmother has her operation, and mistake requires Visu's intervention. After helping Madhu's grandmother, he eventually tells her his father's wishes. Eventually Vishwanathan and Madhumitha put on a double act attempting to deceive the father, who is insistent that his sons get married to twins, however their plans are foiled. How the couple manages to change his father's decision to marry his sons to twins forms the crux of the story.

The film opened to Indian audiences after several delays, on 24 April 1998 and was the most expensive film to be made in India at the time.^[3] The film received positive reviews on the actors' performances and the basic storyline, and it became a major hit at the South Indian box office. Owing to its success, it was later dubbed into the Hindi and Telugu language and released with the same name. The film was nominated by India as its entry for the Best Foreign Language Film for the Academy Awards in 1998.^[4]

Run Lola Run (German: Lola rennt, literally Lola Runs) is a 1998 German crime thriller film.The story follows a woman who needs to obtain 100,000 German marks (50,984 Euro) in 20 minutes to save her boyfriend's life.

The actress wore the same jeans all through the movie which made an energetic and neuter look.
